Meet The Artist
Hello! My name is Katherine, and I am the 19-year-old artist behind Opal Arts Studio. I work with oil, watercolor, and graphite to create artwork that will hopefully make your day a little brighter!
My Story
As soon as I could hold a crayon, I loved to draw and paint. I would spend hours immersed in my creativity. It was my sanctuary.
When I was a teenager, I allowed fear, addictions, and depression to take a hold in my life, and I felt like God did not see me or care for me. I stopped allowing myself to feel things. I stopped creating art.
Through it all, God was always there. God met me with His love at a church meeting, and I rededicated my life to Him. I started reading my Bible and taking back what the enemy had stolen—God filled me with His joy, His peace, and He reminded me of His love.
I started to paint and draw again, but this time, God was my sanctuary, and I created as an act of worship, not as a means to escape.
God was always faithful, even when I was lost. The same God that with me today, as I make paintings at my easel, is the same God with little two-year-old me, drawing with crayons at the kitchen table.
My Inspiration
I’m most often inspired by the small moments in life. Little memories, time spent in nature, or a good pair of clean socks.
When I start to feel down, I go for a walk outside, look at the trees dancing in the wind, smell the fresh air, and give my dog (Hank) a couple of pats on the head, and it reminds me… It reminds me how good the Lord must be to make such good things.
My Driving Force
God has given me a heart for missions and serving others. I don’t know what that will look like in my future, but I’ve already seen Him use my art on multiple mission trips!
I’m currently studying Psychology at Trinity Bible College. My rough plan is to use art and counseling to help people heal from trauma, find freedom, and share the love of God.
I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter so much what I’m doing, but that I’m seeking and honoring the Lord through it—including my art!
I promise to always work with integrity, originality, and a friendly spirit.
I’m dedicated to sharing a little bit of joy, hope, and creativity!
